Technology : Philosophy

The digital television revolution has only been possible through the use of industry-wide standards. However, the diversity of applications and opportunities, and the wide scope of the standards force developers to make choices in their implementations. On the other hand, the complexity of the systems involved have necessitated interoperability requirements between manufacturers.

At Manzanita Systems, we have recognized this dichotomy. Our goal is to design products that work across a spectrum of different systems. We are not tied to a single manufacturer's implementation, but instead have a flexible, configurable approach that lends itself to many environments. Our customers know the advantages of utilizing a well-tested, proven third-party solution.

To provide our customers with optimum solutions, we have adopted the following philosophy in developing our products:

• All products are strictly standards-based.
• We are always open to customer requests for enhancements or new features.
• Processing cores are developed in pure C language for speed optimization and to maximize portability.
• All Multiplexers maintain a standard decoder buffer model to insure that no violations occur in the output stream.
• In addition to MPEG audio, all products support Dolby AC-3, the digital audio standard for ATSC and DVD.
• The feature sets for our products are selected to maximize flexibility, but the user interface is designed to default to the broadest case for ease of use.
• We test all products exhaustively, taking every case, variable, and environment into account.
